FIND YOUR PLACE

It is a common saying among humans that "All Fingers Are Not Equal"....

True all fingers are not equal but each finger performs its duty well because it stays in its position and place.

Have you ever imagined how your hands will be like if your thumb was where your middle finger is and if your little finger was where your index finger is, how convenient will it be? They will not even function well and your hands will look awkward and most of all you will find yourself struggling to do things well due to the wrong positioning of your fingers.

So also is life, we are all not equal but struggle reduces when we all FIND OUR PLACE IN LIFE. Everybody is not destined to be a Doctor, Lawyer, Banker, Engineer, Teacher, etc. Some are created to be Carpenters, Tailors, Welders, Traders and so on because it is in doing that, then their prosperity will locate them.

Some people might look at it as a curse or something bad but no it's not, as much as all fingers are not equal so also all humans are not the same.

Little wonder why some children perform excellently in academics but cannot do well in creative art while some children are so good in constructing things and manipulating things with their hands but are so dull academically. There are 3 different domains for human and they include the psychomotor, affective and cognitive domain. We all perform very well in one of this domain than the others, that is why it is very necessary to know who you are and FIND YOUR PLACE IN LIFE.

Let's bring it back to the Christian Life, we are all called "Christians" by virtue of being born again and accepting Christ Jesus into our lives as Lord but it does not end there, in fact that is the beginning of you finding your place. Remember, it is called BORN AGAIN, you have been born anew and afresh into the Family of God and you need to grow, as you grow with other children in the kingdom, you begin to find out that the differences of each individual becomes more obvious as a result of the Growth and Calling of each person.

When we talk about Growth, this has to do with what you are feeding on spiritually, the spiritual nutrients you are taking in and how often you feed on it. The Word of God says this "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby" this means that constant feeding on the word of God determines your growth level. How often do you feed on the word of God, you can't compare a child who takes his food with other supplements needed for growth DAILY with a child who eats just ONCE IN A WHILE... You can't also compare a child that is feeding on balanced diet with a child that is feeding on junks... Their growth pattern will obviously be different with the former looking healthier and the latter looking sick and malnourished.

So Christians, what are you feeding on? Are you feeding on the word of God or you are feeding on the word of men? If you are feeding on the word of God, how often are you feeding on it? As Children, while growing up in the church we were taught this song " Read your Bible, Pray everyday (x2) if you want to grow".

When we talk about the Calling of each person, this has to do with the Specific call of God to you, that is the Specific role you have to play in the advancement of the Kingdom of God, that is, what is your part in the kingdom of God? This is where most Christians get it wrong because they have not really known who they are called to be and they don't even bother finding out. Here is what the word of God says "But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:"...

But the problem is that most Christians don't understand this, every one wants to be called an Apostle, a Prophet and so on thereby bringing about unnecessary strife, argument and competition in the body of Christ which is not suppose to be so.

Christians listen, we are all members of the body of Christ and don't forget that a house divided against itself can never stand. How will it be if all your body were to be filled with eyes or if all your body were to be filled with legs, awkward right? So also we are all members of the body of Christ, some are the Eyes, some are the Ears, some are the Hands while some are the Legs and so on, that is why it is very important to FIND YOUR PLACE IN THE BODY OF CHRIST.

"For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another"

The importance of finding your place is that it prevents unnecessary strife and competition in the body of Christ, it also gives you the liberty to function well knowing that you are in the right place, it helps you to do the service of God with ease and without struggles because you have found your place and you have grace to function effectively in your place.

A Doctor does not struggle to treat a patient neither does an Accountant struggle to keep the account balanced but when they are swapped to do the duty of the other, there arises great difficulty and struggle because it is not THEIR PLACE.

Dear Christians, everyone cannot be an Apostle, some are called to be Prophets, Evangelists, Teachers and Pastors. Some are also called to be Intercessors, Kingdom Financiers, Deputizers, Elders, Helpers in the ministry, Counsellors and Advisers, Care givers and so on.

Hear what the Lord has to tell you in His Word (1 Corinthians 12:4 -31 :- Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way."

Dear Heavenly Pilgrims, You really need to FIND YOUR PLACE IN THE BODY OF CHRIST SO THAT YOU WILL NOT BE RUNNING ANOTHER MAN'S RACE, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT BE KEEPING ANOTHER MAN'S VINEYARD AND YOUR OWN VINEYARD IS LEFT UNKEPT, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT BE FIGHTING ANOTHER MAN'S BATTLE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY SO THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE YOUR REWARD AT THE END OF YOUR JOURNEY HERE ON EARTH.

"But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."

Dear Lord, You've spoken to us about finding our place in You, please forgive us for being coveteous and not been whom You have called us to be, help us to retrace our steps and FIND OUR PLACE IN YOU BECAUSE ONLY THEN CAN WE LIVE A FULFILLED LIFE AND BRING UNITY TO THE BODY OF CHRIST AND GLORY TO THE NAME OF GOD IN JESUS NAME I PRAY, AMEN.

SHALOM.
