THE MINISTRY OF AN INTERCESSOR

Who is an Intercessor?

An Intercessor is someone who talks to God on behalf of another person.

An Intercessor is one who travails in prayer for someone or something (that may or may not be related to him or her directly).

An Intercessor is someone who is called into the office of prayer to travail in the Spirit till Spiritual Possibilities are birthed.

An Intercessor is one that labours in prayer to ensure that the Mind of God is brought to earth and established.

An Intercessor is a person who prays another individual out of bondage, attack, problems, chains of Sin, Sickness and Satan.

The ministry of an Intercessor is very wide but now among believers and Christian in general, it seems like the ministry of an Intercessor is been trivialized or almost lost.

Before anything can happen, especially Dynamic Spiritual Outbreak, the part an Intercessor must play is indispensable because without an Intercessor especially A Prophetic Intercessor who sees and knows the Mind and Purposes of God for a particular dispensation, that Revival and Dynamic Spiritual Outbreak might never happen.

An Intercessor must be Selfless, Holy, Pure, have the mind of God and must be able to stand in the gap for others.

An Intercessor does not give up easily, he stays on his knees until something happens.

An Intercessor legislates in the kingdom of Heaven, he has Power with God and man.

An Intercessor has God and heaven's attention.

Let's take a look at people in the Bible who were Intercessors.

ABRAHAM: He was a genuine Intercessor. He was called "THE FRIEND OF GOD". Before God does something on earth, HE will first tell Abraham. Look at the case of Sodom and Gommorah, when God wanted to destroy that city, HE first told Abraham and Abraham interceded on behalf of the city and Lot, his Nephew. "And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD. And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?"

Abraham went from fifty to forty five, then to forty, thirty, twenty and eventually he stopped at Ten. If Abraham had gone further to intercede for five, probably that city would have been spared. God did not leave until Abraham finished communing with HIM. "And he said, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake. And the LORD went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place."

ELIJAH: He Prayed and there was no rain upon the earth for the space of three and half years. He prayed again for the rain to come and while doing this, he was praying with his face bowed in between his knees (that's one of the hardest position to stay while praying). He kept on asking his servant, Gehazi, to go and check till a positive news was brought to him. He Prayed Until Something Happened (it is called the PUSH PRAYER). "And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not. And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel."

DANIEL: He discovered that He and his people had stayed more than the appointed time when they were suppose to be delivered from captivity in Babylon, so he started interceding for his people. It was in the course of this intercession that God revealed to him what was going to happen at the end of time. "In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake. O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name. And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God; Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation."

ESTHER: She heard that Haman had made a plan to destroy her people. She did not sit still, she took it upon herself and interceded for her people till God gave her wisdom on how to go about the matter and destroy Haman. "Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer, Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish."

ANNA: She was a Prophetess who gave herself unto prayer, she Prayed for the Messiah to come. "And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem."

THE CHURCH OF GOD: When Peter was arrested and put in prison, they gathered themselves together in one place and interceded on his behalf until he was released. "Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews. And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying"

EPAPHRAS: He interceded for the Colossian believers that they may stand perfect in God's will "Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God"

You might say "Well, the ministry of intercession is not my office".... Don't say that because in one way or the other, you are an Intercessor.

As a Husband, Wife, Parent, Brother, Sister, Friend, you are an Intercessor for your family and loved ones first. Secure your family in prayer, scatter the work of darkness in their lives. As a Leader in whatever sphere of life, God did not just put you there to occupy position, you need to know that you are strategically positioned there to alter things that are not right or things that are going wrong through your fervent prayer and intercession.

The truth is that you might not be recognized here on earth but God knows you and your reward will surprise you when you get to heaven.

"And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none."

THERE IS A CALL FROM HEAVEN FOR INTERCESSORS TO ARISE!

YOU HAVE KEPT QUIET LONG ENOUGH THAT IS WHY THINGS HAVE BEEN GOING WRONG IN VARIOUS ASPECT OF LIFE;

YOU HAVE KEPT QUIET THAT'S WHY SPIRITUAL POSSIBILITIES THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN BIRTHED (i.e, LONG BEEN MANIFESTED) ON EARTH HAS BEEN DELAYED.

ARISE INTERCESSORS! ARISE PROPHETIC INTERCESSORS! GET ON YOUR KNEES BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. YOUR PRAYERS MOVES THE HAND THAT MOVES THE WORLD.

ARISE! ARISE!! ARISE!!!

SHALOM.
