THE POWER OF SILENCE

There are times in life when we have to keep silent, watch, observe and wait for God to give us the next instruction concerning issues in different areas of our lives.

Such times could be so difficult, at this time the urge to speak will be so high and it will look like if you don't talk at that time you will not get yourself. If only you knew the power embedded in Silence. There are times God will ask you to keep quiet and say nothing at all, even when you are terribly hurt and pained, HE will ask you not to talk.

True, we are humans and the normal thing expected from us by our fellow human and by the normal mind is to talk... Talk back at the offender, speak out your mind, reply them so that they won't think that you are foolish and you don't know what to say, so that they will not try whatever rubbish they did with you again, pay them back in their own coins, let them know that they are not the only one that can talk, give it to them hot and so on.... BUT GOD ASKS YOU TO KEEP SILENT.

Hmmm, it can be so painful to keep quiet when you are being insulted, abused, ridiculed and treated like a fool but you don't know why God asked you to keep quiet.

It could be that the next word that will come out of your mouth will be what the devil will stand upon and use as a legal ground to accuse you before God; it could be that the next word you speak might just be what will close and lock your destiny; it could be that the words you speak might rewind your breakthrough and blessing that is just by the corner and reverse it so much that what you were suppose to achieve in a week time you shifted it back to 7 years time or you will never get it again.

Beware of provocations, because it just might be that your appointed time is near and the devil wants you to get angry so as to rob you of your blessings.

There are times people will so much hurt you with their words and actions and you will be moved to say something to them;

As a Parent, it might even be your Children (either biological or spiritual children) that provokes you and you are tempted to say something that is bad or even Curse them, at that point WAIT!!!

Haven't you heard or don't you know that decisions taken in anger is not always right.

There are Numerous reasons why God might ask you to be Silent, you may not understand now but you will understand later, JUST OBEY and be Silent. You will be shocked at the Results of your silence, you will be amazed at the Possibilities you get and the Dangers that were averted due to YOUR SILENCE....

Let's go on a journey and see examples of people in the Bible who kept quiet at a particular point and what their Silence Achieved.

SAUL: After Samuel had anointed Saul, he did not go about telling people that he was anointed and even when his Uncle asked him what Samuel told him, this was what he did "And Saul's uncle said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said unto you. And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom, whereof Samuel spake, he told him not."... He did not announce himself but God announced him "And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king."

ESTHER: She was instructed by her uncle Mordecai not to show her people or her kindred that she was among the chosen of the king...

Sometimes God instructs us to be quiet about something and not make it known especially to our family and friends, not because they hate us, it is for reasons we might not understand.. See what the word of God says "And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom."

Great possibilities have been aborted because of inability to be quiet.

ABIGAIL: When her husband Nabal acted wickedly to David and she heard of it, she secretly went to beg David and did not let Nabal know until she came back. When she told him, her words had a great effect on him "And she said unto her servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she told not her husband Nabal. But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone."...

Sometimes God asks us to keep quiet because the words you speak at that time will never have the right effect on the person as when God eventually gives you the go ahead to speak, then the word will Pierce the heart of the person and have the right effect because the right message will eventually be passed.

Finally, THE CHILDREN OF ISREAL: God specifically instructed them through Joshua that they should be quiet all through the six days they compassed Jericho till on the seventh day before they shout, this was the strategy for their victory over Jericho "And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout. And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city. So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city."....

The Power of Silence cannot be overemphasized;

It could just be YOUR DIVINE STRATEGY FOR VICTORY "But they held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not. Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

It could be YOUR SALVATION FROM THE ENEMY "I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.";

It could be YOUR GATEWAY INTO DOMINION AND POWER.

When someone wronged you badly and you are silent, your heart is not silent, it is communing with the heavenly Father, it is communing with Him that can take vengeance for you "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord."

Let this be our daily prayer....

"SET A WATCH, O LORD, BEFORE MY MOUTH; KEEP THE DOOR OF MY LIPS."

I Pray that God will teach us more about THE POWER OF SILENCE in Jesus Name. 🙏🙏🙏

SHALOM.
